WardiTV are excited to bring you a new weekly tournament, the WardiTV Weekly! The SC2Improve Weekly was an event that shaped our organisation and we are happy to be host a similar event many years on under our new branding. The WardiTV Weekly will be ran in Seasons, with each season being separated by a larger WardiTV event (think Wardi Open or WardiTV Christmas Invitational). Players who win WardiTV Weekly events during the season will be invited to the larger event.
Natural Expansion, the SC2 talk show which had only two episodes when started in the summer of 2016 by Wardi, will return for 2017. The show is designed to give people a way to stay up to date and connected with the StarCraft 2 scene, in an easily digested format. With the lack of current SC2 talk shows this is hoping to fill the gap once filled by shows such as The Late Game, Remax or even older classics such as State of the Game.
Each year it seems the hype for NationWars grows and grows as this unique tournament brings together StarCraft fans & players from around the world to represent something that arguably isn't talked about enough in StarCraft 2 : their nationalities. A community vote determined the lineup for 32 countries who found three or more players to represent them in the competition.
As expected DeMuslim led the UK vote, with just under 40% of the votes. He will be joined by RiSky and TeebuL, members of Team WardiTV, to complete the squad as they earned 18% and 14% of votes respectively. Revolution will be the teams substitute player, missing out on the top three by 1% of votes.
Sponsors of WardiTV Team League S7, True eSports have had some huge roster changes in the past week which could really shake things up with regard to their WTL performance. Just before the regular season of the league began it was announced that they would lose their star player, Mikołaj "Elazer" Ogonowski. who recently placed top 4 in the largest StarCraft 2 event of the year, Blizzcon. At Blizzcon Elazer showed an impressive performance defeating Solar, Nechio & ShoWTimE before dropping 0-3 to Dark in the semi-finals.
Next week (December 12th and on) there will be no Leifeng Cup or SGL Cup due to larger events, so WardiTV have decided to fill the week with our own event. It will be a 16 player event with 12 invites and 4 qualified players. Our base prize pool is $300, but will be ran through Matcherino and so should be raised.
With the great exodus of Korean teams many have been waiting to see which teams will make fresh pick-ups from the Korean scene, though there has been a severe lack of activity which has mostly been put down to the lack of information on the 2017 WCS system. Very recently Solar was picked up by Splyce, as they begin their venture into SC2 and yesterday the news came from DuSt Gaming that they had signed former CJ Entus players Bunny and Hush.
